Condolences Can Be Given At The QE2 At Port Rashid Starting Today
Following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, many British expatriates and tourists have been wondering if they could offer their condolences aboard the QE2, the retired British ocean liner that has since been converted into a floating hotel in Dubai, the British Embassy has made an announcement regarding those queries.
You can pay your respects and offer condolences at the QE2 in Port Rashid and a location (TBC) in Abu Dhabi
The British Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the office of the British Embassy in Dubai have confirmed that paying respects to the late queen would indeed be possible and have been arranged for two locations: the QE2 at Port Rashid and a location in Abu Dhabi that is yet to be confirmed.
The QE2 is a retired British ocean liner that is now a floating hotel in Port Rashid, Dubai
Named Queen Elizabeth, this ocean liner operated as a transatlantic liner and cruise ship from 1969 up to 2008.
People can sign a condolence book, leave flowers or pay tribute in their own private way (as they wish)
The hours of visit at the QE2 at Port Rashid is between the hours of 10:00-18:00 from Saturday, the 10th of September.
At the current moment, the British Embassy has announced that the Abu Dhabi location will be publicised shortly as arrangements are currently being finalised.
“We anticipate that there may be queues at both venues so we advise visitors to plan accordingly,” the embassy added.
If you are unable to, online condolences can also be sent at the official royal family website
You can leave your message of condolence here, and a selection of these messages will be passed onto members of the Royal Family.
