A new month brings a list of new things to do in Dubai and we couldn’t be more delighted to share information with our readers on the latest and greatest.
The Pods have been the talk of the town and it’s finally opening on May 1. Haven’t heard of The Pods? Well, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience opening on Bluewaters Island where you will dine in a luxury pod. Pan-Asian cuisine is on the menu with flavours from China, Japan and Thailand with a ‘modern touch’. The sleek black pods are lined with cushy green sofas surrounding a central table. There’s also an indoor bar area which can seat up to 30 people. Amongst the cool black fittings and mood lighting, there’s a canopy of foliage for that extra Instagrammability.

2. Eat your heart out at Dubai Food Festival
Foodies, get excited: the citywide Dubai Food Festival is returning to the city taking place from May 2 to 15. Residents and visitors will be able to explore the best of Dubai’s drinking and dining scene across two weeks of top events. At popular Dubai Restaurant Week, you’ll be able to sample set menus from some of the city’s top restaurants for a fraction of the usual price. You can even become the master of your own kitchen with Foodie Experiences by taking part in workshops across a breadth of cuisines and so much more.

4. Visit new laid-back seaside spot – Laguna Lounge

5. Check out a new Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain show
If you love visiting the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain show at every Dubai Mall visit, you’ll love this news. Over the long Eid weekend, there is a new perfectly choreographed LED light show and fountain show for you to check out. It will take place every night over the long weekend at 8pm. Additional shows have also been added taking place every hour during the afternoon from 2pm to 5pm and every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm.

6. Dine at Trove – the artsy new Dubai Mall restaurant
Gastronomy meets art at Trove at The Dubai Mall. The newly opened restaurant brags a menu of international cuisines overseen by Le Cordon Bleu trained chef Doğukan Duguncu. There are three different sections to choose from: a pretty restaurant packed with colourful furnishings, a relaxing shisha lounge and the largest alfresco terrace in Dubai Mall, which offers a front-row seat to the world’s biggest fountain show. You can find it on the ground floor at the Fashion Avenue extension of the Dubai Mall.

7. Shop at the new Gold Souk Extension
There are plenty of reasons to visit Old Dubai and we’ve just been given another reason. Gold Souk located at Dubai’s historic district has had an extension while maintaining its Old Dubai charm and cultural characteristics of the original souk. The Gold Souk now has 295 more stores to check out including jewellery stores, speciality restaurants and much more. If you visit before March 8 you will be treated to a line-up of entertainment, activations and promotions.

8. Pay a visit to (Museum of) the Moon
Missed the iconic Museum of the Moon the last time it was in the city? We have great news as it is set to shine once again at OliOli over Eid Al Fitr in May. The Museum of the Moon is an activation created by artist Luke Jerram who created the five-meter accurate replica of the moon by fusing imagery from detailed NASA pictures of the lunar surface. Visit before May 8.

9. Soak in classical music at a music festival at Dubai Opera
Classical music aficionados, you’re in for a real treat. The InClassica International Music Festival is back at the stunning Dubai Opera showcasing renowned musicians from across the globe. The four-week celebration of world-classical music performances and international collaboration will see a number of consecutive concerts taking place in the evening that will please both your ears and your soul. The music festival runs from May 8 to June 2 with ticket prices starting from Dhs180. Expect well-known and popular classics and contemporary masterpieces including works by Verdi, Beethoven, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Strauss and Dvořák from 50 world-renowned soloists and 11 celebrated conductors. 10. Go on a multi-sensory artistic vision of the future at ToDA
Fans of digital art, ToDA has a new show for you. As you know, Dubai is home to plenty of futuristic developments, but it isn’t the only city with dreamers envisioning the future. This is why the digital art theatre had an open call for artists to send in their artistic visions of the future. The list has been whittled down and from May 13 to August 31, you can visit Digital Extravaganza where you will be treated to creations by world-renowned digital artists with their vision of the future.
